"You Are A Tourist"

Yesterday was a day like most others.  Dancing, workout, school, applications, etc.  I had finally settled down into my bed with my comfy clothes, when I got a call from my father.  He had been going for a walk, and since he figured that since I was only a few minutes away, he would call to ask if I would join him.

I threw on some typical San Francisco weather gear (Ugg boots and a sweatshirt), and went to meet him at the Sharon building in Golden Gate Park.
For those of you who don't know San Francisco, the Sharon building is an art studio with classes available to the public in the heart of Golden Gate Park!  It is absolutely beautiful, and it has been there since 1888!
After walking by the Children's Playground, my dad and I made our way over to the San Francisco Botanical Gardens.  Residents of the city get in for free!  One of the many perks of living in this fine place!
These mini orchids are probably one of my favorite finds of this walk-through.  With the sky overcast and gray from the rain, the colors of the flowers really popped against the greenery!
We then made our way over to my favorite part of the Botanical Gardens; the Fragrance Garden!  If there is one thing you need to know about me, it's this; I LOVE things that smell nice!  I have a small obsession with both perfumes and scented candles; combined with my love of nature, the Fragrance Garden is practically perfect in every way!
The sun decided to show up briefly during our meandering through the orange blossoms.
I found some of the names of the plants really funny!  We have "Baby Tears," "Lime Thyme," and the not pictured, "Buddha's Hand."
My dad, who rarely gets to just walk around and enjoy the city, really loved being able to experience this place like a tourist!  He even grabbed a few sprigs of rosemary to use in a culinary excursion.
Selfie time (or should I say thyme?)!
All in all, what was a rather disappointing and exhausting day turned into a lovely adventure with one of my favorite people! Where do you go on your "tourist adventures" in your city or town?  Please comment!

Traveling!

I am on my way to my final away audition of the season! In this trip I get to seen my ex-roommate and close friend, Hannah.  She is crazy and hysterical, and I can't wait to see her, even if it's just for one day!

I have been spending loads of time at airports this year, and while traveling is exhausting, I have definitely been bitten by the wanderlust bug!  I am so ready to start my new life, whether it's in San Francisco or the Big Apple!

Where do you see yourself in the next year?

Spring in San Francisco

We have been having some spectacular weather in San Francisco the past couple of days!  Below is a picture taken from Golden Gate Heights, one of my favorite spots in the city!

Kayak Adventure

This past weekend, I went and participated in one of my favorite outdoor pastimes; kayaking!  While I wasn't able to bring a camera on the kayak (mine isn't waterproof), I was able to capture the beautiful day on land!

We visited a place called Moss Landing in Monterey Bay, and went kayaking in Elkhorn Slew.  There was tons of wildlife!  The harbor seals were adorable, and they swam around my group, winking at us and splashing about!  One of my favorite parts of the paddle was when two juvenile sea otters were playing with each other, rolling around in the water and nibbling at each others faces... they were making the most adorable coo-ing noises, and my group just sat around watching them for a bit.  There was another otter that was massaging his cheeks, and he looked like he was grinning at us!

Following the kayak, we went to one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Cruz, called The Saturn Cafe.  It is a vegetarian restaurant, but to be honest, the food is so good, I didn't even realize this until I had been going there for years!  It has a diner theme, and it is spacey and funky; it epitomizes Santa Cruz, really!  The tomato soup is to DIE for, and their desserts are amazing!
I am always a happy camper with beautiful weather, beautiful company, and beautiful scenery!
 What is your happy place?

Hint of Springtime

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood today!  I even wore a skirt!  But wait, isn't it still winter? Silly climate change...

Beautiful Yerba Buena Gardens!  I had to be careful not to get sunburned, considering I am SO PALE!  I rarely get to see the light of day!

Do you prefer sunny or cloudy weather?

Food Truck Night!

The Haight in San Francisco becomes extra magical on Thursday nights... It's Off The Grid food trucks night!  With live music and an even lively-er crowd, good times are bound to commence!  My roommate and I love coming out on Thursdays to see the people of the city, and enjoy this really incredible food!
What mid-week fun do you get up to?
