I threw on some typical San Francisco weather gear (Ugg boots and a sweatshirt), and went to meet him at the Sharon building in Golden Gate Park.
For those of you who don't know San Francisco, the Sharon building is an art studio with classes available to the public in the heart of Golden Gate Park! It is absolutely beautiful, and it has been there since 1888!
After walking by the Children's Playground, my dad and I made our way over to the San Francisco Botanical Gardens. Residents of the city get in for free! One of the many perks of living in this fine place!
These mini orchids are probably one of my favorite finds of this walk-through. With the sky overcast and gray from the rain, the colors of the flowers really popped against the greenery!
We then made our way over to my favorite part of the Botanical Gardens; the Fragrance Garden! If there is one thing you need to know about me, it's this; I LOVE things that smell nice! I have a small obsession with both perfumes and scented candles; combined with my love of nature, the Fragrance Garden is practically perfect in every way!
The sun decided to show up briefly during our meandering through the orange blossoms.
I found some of the names of the plants really funny! We have "Baby
Tears," "Lime Thyme," and the not pictured, "Buddha's Hand."My dad, who rarely gets to just walk around and enjoy the city, really loved being able to experience this place like a tourist! He even grabbed a few sprigs of rosemary to use in a culinary excursion.
Selfie time (or should I say thyme?)!
All in all, what was a rather disappointing and exhausting day turned into a lovely adventure with one of my favorite people! Where do you go on your "tourist adventures" in your city or town? Please comment!
-Fly high, little birds!
